| Two experts in partnership to serve demanding tool and die makers - EuroMold 2009 |
|
Total production solutions from a single supplier are providing a crucial competitive edge to tool and die-makers. This experience is particularly true when the solution is provided by expert partners. As ever, DST once again meets this challenge at this year’s EuroMold (Hall 8.0, booth J40). At the Frankfurt show, the Droop Rein production division and Mecof Srl. are presenting their independent machine tool concepts.

| Large, robust and accurate - Machine tools of a special kind |
|
DST is now one of the few European owned companies playing a leading roll in the worlds premier league of heavy-duty machine tool constructors. Precision, cost-effectiveness and reliability are the qualities in which the company, headquartered in Mönchengladbach, is claiming to lead the world. Having gained decades of experience in the construction of heavy-duty machine tools in their different divisions, the company now wants consistently to expand this area of its business. With this in mind the company has invested in a new production hall at the facility in Bielefeld.

| DST opens Representation Office in Moscow |
|
DST has, since 2003, once again been active in Russia, updating and strengthening old contacts and making new ones. "Since then we have been consistently increasing our annual turnover to the ten million Euro we achieve today", summarised Hubert Erz, Sales Manager for Germany and the north-eastern part of the globe. For example, the three large manufacturers of powerful valves (up to 1.4m throughput diameter) for power transmission pipelines rank amongst DST’s customers in Russia. Besides his Sales Manager role, Mr. Erz also manages the Representation Office, which opened on 1st October 2008 in conjunction with his deputy is Igor Zhavrid, a Russian citizen

| ECOFORCE - A Titanium Machine |
|
The dramatic increase in the use of titanium for the construction of both Military and Civilian Aircraft has created a demand for a new and much more efficient machine tool. Adapting standard machines for Titanium applications is no longer acceptable in today’s ever more competitive world, where in Manufacturing Industry Productivity is the key to success. Conventional machining centers, such as those used to machine steel, produce only unsatisfactory results. This is why DST has designed and implemented a machining center to cope with titanium. |

World famous Swiss precision is not confined to clocks . specialists at what is now Burckhardt Compression AG have been producing compressors since 1844. Their accuracy has helped them achieve the world pressure record of 3,600 bar and service lives of anything up to 85 years. In turn, their production specialists demand optimum quality from their machine tools. The 5 µm average positioning accuracy offered by the ALPHA 1250M machining centre from Dörries Scharmann Technologie GmbH (DST) was a decisive factor inits selection

| The experts´top choice |
|
Special tasks require special solutions. This applies also to high-precision machining of high-strength materials. And especially if the workpieces are distinctive for their complex, non-rotational-symmetrical geometries. Examples of these are industrial or offshore fittings and valves, axle journals for vans and special vehicles, or drill bits for oil and gas exploration drilling. The machining centre DBF 630 from DST is convincing when it comes to machining workpieces with turning circles of up to 850 mm.

The mechanical engineering producer P. van der Wegen Gears B.V. specialises in the production of large, heavy and precise components. Precision manufacture in the order of a few microns on work pieces up to 16m diameter is considered normal everyday business in the companies air conditioned work bays. Because of these precise demands, van der Wegen requires the finest quality machine tools. This need is met by the vertical turning centre of DST.

| Quality Productivity Availability = FOGS D40 |
|
In May 2005 production engineers at Liebherr Aerospace started the production on their new high-speed machining centre. After critical tests and intensive evaluation they eventually acquired a Droop Rein FOGS D40 Over-Head Gantry High Speed Machining Center from DST Eighteen months later, Bernd Molinari, Production Engineering Manager at Liebherr Aerospace, takes stock. "Machining quality has met the forecast values; at 95% availability is well over that of comparable machines, and productivity in terms of time per workpiece has risen by 25 percent. All things considered, the machining centre has manifestly surpassed our expectations."

Situated near Belfast, MOYOLA Precision Engineering (MOYOLA) in Castledawson, Magherafelt, Northern Ireland, is the first customer in the world to take delivery of an ECOSPEED F equipped with both the new integral C axis and Angular Milling Head. This additional axis, together with the integrated angled head, enables full five-axis face machining of complex aerospace components using a single setting. This is the first machining centre to use an "integral C axis" in combination with parallel kinematics for multi-axes machining.

Machining centers of the ALPHA series are able to do the splits between New and Proven: Their concept is still new, but this innovative concept and its implementation has already been proven by the first machines in hard continuous operation. Wherever workpieces require a combination of turning, milling and drilling operations, the new DBF 630 machining center offers potential solutions. Turning, boring and milling on different faces and positional attitudes in one set-up, flexibility with different workpieces and machining operations, high productivity and a rapid return on investment (ROI), are amongst the many attributes of this multi-talented machine.
Three sold machines prove the successfull concept. Avail yourself to the benefits and convince yourself of the potential of the brand new DBF 630 on IMTS - in South Hall, booth A-8020.
